Costa Athanassiou is a Melbourne based
professional photographer and filmmaker.
Costa migrated from Greece to Australia in
1986 and since he has documented the many facets of the
Australian community. His extensive photographic archive
includes theatre productions, concerts, festivals and people’s
everyday activities.
His photographs have been exhibited in solo
and group exhibitions since 1989. They have been published in
magazines and newspapers. His portrait series,
Greek-Australian Writers, was published in book format in
2008.
Costa has also
produced a number of video documentaries for City Councils and
community organisations. Many of those have been shown as part
of multimedia events, such as Elefteria Arvanitaki’s Concert
(Hammer Concert Hall Foyer), Theo Sidiropoulos Memorial Event
(Collingwood Town Hall), Costas Tsicaderis’ Memorial Concert
(BMW Edge Theatre), Thymios Stathoulopoulos Tribute Concert
(Preston Town Hall).
